| Deaf Connections
Deaf Connections is one of the world's oldest charities working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. We are based in Glasgow. We provide training in British Sign Language and related subjects, literacy and numeracy support, health information and advice, ICT training, communication services, community development, clubs and youth activities. Deaf Connections hosts social clubs for the Deaf community in Glasgow. Services Communication. A range of services for Deaf people designed to meet their communication needs; it includes the provision of sign language interpreters, lip speakers and note takers. Community Care. A range of welfare services for Deaf people who either wish to sustain their domestic independence or require specific support: it includes homecare, housing support, residential care and more general advice and advocacy. Community Development. A range of services for Deaf people to help develop their independence and ensure their inclusion in the community: it includes services for people of different ages, ethnicity and cultures and living in different geographical locations and also support on specific issues related to their personal development such as literacy and numeracy. and information and communication technology (ICT). Deaf Studies. A range of courses for Deaf and hearing people designed to aid their intercommunication; it includes courses and programmes in British Sign Language and Deaf awareness and a major schools project on Sign Language. Community Health. A range of services for Deaf people to help maintain and improve their health: it offers access to health-related services and includes the provision of a healthy living centre and projects on cancer awareness, coronary heart disease and volunteering. |
