The Mental Health Services Directorate at Rampton Hospital is the largest clinical service area within the Forensic Services Directorate.

The Directorate consists of 11 wards, which include:

Two Admission
Two Treatment
One Intensive Care
One Deaf Unit (soon to be established as the National High Secure Service)
One High Dependency Villa (operating along modified Therapeutic Community lines)
One specialising in Psycho-social Interventions.
In addition the Directorate has management responsibility for the Hospital Health Centre and Primary Healthcare, which incorporates Health Promotion, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, etc.

The Directorate has 350 employees across nursing, medicine, psychology, social work and administration and clerical staff.

The primary aim of the service is the provision of a comprehensive assessment and a therapy service for men who have mental health needs which meet our obligations under the Mental Health Act (1983), complies with the Mental Health Act Code of Practice and achieves the targets set out within the National Service Framework for Mental Health and the N.H.S. Plan.
