 Social Work with Deaf People Conference Thursday 24th March 2011 – 10.30am to 4.30pm. The Deaf Cultural Centre, Ladywood Road, Birmingham, B16 8SZ One year on from the successful Social Work with Deaf People, Promoting Deaf Mental Wellbeing Conference held in Manchester on 18th March 2010 (See SWDP2010 for details), this conference will continue the theme of addressing the current issues relating to the provision of Social Care for Deaf People and promoting Deaf Mental Wellbeing whilst providing a networking opportunity for Social Workers that specialise in working with Deaf people. Call for Papers All abstracts must be submitted using the format detailed below. If you are unsure about how to prepare an abstract please contact us and you will be allocated a Mentor who will be able to guide you through the process.Some abstracts will be accepted conditionally, in which case you will be allocated a Mentor to help you to develop your paper. The deadline for submitting papers is 15 December 2010. If your abstract is accepted a full copy of your presentation will be required by 1 March 2011. Successful papers will be allocated either keynote presentation (1 hour including questions) or supporting presentation or workshop (30 minutes including questions). All presenters must pay the full Delegate Registration Fee for the conference. Papers can only be submitted by a maximum of two presenters per Paper. You may submit as many papers as you wish but each one must be submitted separately. All abstracts must be submitted in English as a Word Document (.doc) using the Call for Papers Form and sent as an attachment to an email. Maximum length is 200 words including References. No pictures or diagrams to be included in the abstract but if you wish to submit pictures or diagrams please indicate this on the Form and you will be given details of how to do this. The official joint Congress languages are English and British Sign Language. All presentations and workshops will be interpreted between English and British Sign Language.
