The quote from attendee, "That was a great 2 days. I was flat & fed up after 20 years of working in mental health, but this made me switch on with passion again."

Deaf Futures: Health, Wellbeing and Equality conference was hosted over 2 days in June 2016 by BSMHD. It was attended by over 150 people ranging from professionals, academics and service users.
BSMHD are proud to have been able to bring together high quality presenters to share information and knowledge on Deaf people and mental health. There were 6 keynote speakers and 34 workshops covered with the themes of Health, Wellbeing and Equality over the two days.
The conference received exceptional feedback in regards to quality of presenters, venue, refreshments, registration process and usefulness of the sessions with many saying the conference had been so long awaited.
This would not have been possible without the sponsors, BSMHD Trustees, volunteers and support from the SORD team at the University of Manchester - A VERY BIG THANK YOU as there is nothing more powerful than when this community comes together to share ideas and knowledge.
The BSMHD Trustees have been talking about when the next conference will be. The World Congress on Mental Health and Deafness is happening in London 2018 and we do not want to clash with this. We are still in the discussion stage and we will keep you updated.
In the meantime, please watch this video that briefly shows what it was like at the conference and hopefully it will entice you to come to the next one. We would like to thank Memnos Costi and Freya Hill from SignHealth who filmed and edited this video for BSMHD.
Finally, a big thank you to all those who came to the conference and made it a successful one.
